Many years sponsoring Clydesdale Cricket Club has enabled us to form strong relations with not only the club, but also their players. One such player is South African born, Clydesdale player and Scotland Cricket Captain, Richie Berrington.
Originally born in Pretoria, Richie emigrated to Scotland as a youth and became involved in the Scotland under-15 National Team. His talent was evident for all to see and led to his call up to the Scotland Team that took part in the Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka
He quickly established himself in the senior national side and was awarded a full-time professional contract in 2010. Richie’s importance in the national team cannot be understated; having received over 250 caps for Scotland, he is now their most capped player. Richie’s consummate professionalism was recognised when he was appointed Captain of the Scotland National Team in 2022.
Our association with Richie began when Bill McCracken first brought him in as an introducer to assist with new business production and lead generation. In the eight years since Richie joined, he has shown an aptitude for mortgages which has seen his role evolve, enabling him to allocate more of his time to the area in which he excels. It is our hope that, after a long and successful cricket career, Richie elects to joins us on a more permanent basis. Until then, we will simply enjoy watching one of our own on the international stage.
